Welcome to another episode of Motivational Monday, where we talk about little ways to improve our day/week and ultimately our well-being.
“Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.”
Laughter is the best medicine. It is a common phrase. I’m sure you have said it once yourself. But have you ever stopped to consider that if laughter truly is the best medicine, shouldn’t it be taken every day? According to Helpguide.org, a non-profit mental & emotional health education organization, laughter has multiple benefits for physical, mental, and social well being.
My husband has a way of telling me that he has had a bad day. When looking for our evening entertainment, once in a while he will say, “something funny, I need a good laugh.” This is his tell that the day or week has been rough. Our go-to cure for this is usually an episode of The Big Bang Theory or a Jeff Dunham stand up special.
However, instead of treating the rough days with laughter, maybe we could take a preventative approach and front-load our day/week with a solid dose of laughter medicine. YouTube is a wonderful resource. I keep a playlist titled Just For Laughs, to which I add anything I come across that makes me laugh. At some point during my day, I will hit play on one of the 5-10 minute clips and take a solid dose of laughter. My mood definitely improves after this.
Another resource is Pinterest. There are so many memes that are just hysterical floating around Pinterest. Again, I have a Pinterest Board titled Just For Laughs, that I will frequently browse when watching a video would be inappropriate.
To get you going on a dose of laughter for today here is one of my favorite YouTube clips:
And here is my favorite meme from my Pinterest board:
That’s all, for now, I hope you have a great week and thanks for taking the time to read my post.
