Sunday’s Stitches & Stuff – Episode 11

This week has been a short week for us here at the Rutko Refuge; having just returned from a long weekend away on Tuesday evening. This past weekend was our first attempt at taking the whole beagle pack to Cape May and for the most part it went better than I expected. There are still a few areas of training that need working on and a few areas I need to problem solve, but I am encouraged that we will be able to enjoy our summer lifestyle with pack in tow. Both hubby and I returned to work with full schedules and of course unpacking was required.

Moving on to the nitty gritty of the week:

What I’m Stitching

Since I was on a roll with the Year of Celebrations series on the road, I stuck with it the rest of the week. Unfortunately, I did not have as much time this week to stitch as I normally do, it always seems to take a few days for everything to fall back into rhythm after being on the road. Anyway, here is my progress with May:

And in case you missed it, here is the finished April piece:

This coming week I will be returning to Happily Ever After and I am itching to kit up a new project that I plan to be my birthday start this year.

What I’m Reading

This weekend, I have just started Black Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin. It is the book choice for my Mystery Book Club this month, which is Thursday so I better get a move on. Since I literally just started it I can’t really say anything about it yet, but hopefully it will be as good as the last book.

I’m also still listening to The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters on my Overdrive app. The story definitely took a turn that I was not expecting and someone is on trial for a crime they did not commit! That’s all I can say without spoilers.

What I’m Watching

No real TV time this week, that is one of my favorite parts of being in Cape May, we hardly ever sit down to watch TV, we just enjoy the peace and quiet. Still, hubby and I are almost through The Last Ship, season 3. Definitely one of the best TV dramas currently being produced. Additionally, I am keeping current with season 5 of Orphan Black, and I am so curious to see where they are taking the story. By the way, Helena is my favorite clone, something about the innocence of a child that can turn around and kill you with a paperclip, I just relate too. LOL!

Highlights

Of course, waking up Monday morning in Cape May, NJ is the ultimate highlight of the week. Also, this week I have been very proactive in my love affair with my mini Happy Planner. If you are not familiar with this phenomenon just search Happy Planner on YouTube or Pinterest and you’ll be overloaded with information. Right now I am giving my planner space to evolve into what will work best for my lifestyle.

Since I am also very digital, I use my iPhone and laptop to organize most of my stuff, there needs to be a marriage between the two, because I also love the use of pen & paper to help my mind keep things straight. I’ve started to design my own printables for the daily log, because the one that came with the mini Happy Planner doesn’t work for me, but the weekly logs are pretty good the way they are and there are a lot of free printable out there, check out my Happy Planner Pinterest board.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!
